Light has always ridden the edge between spirit and magic.

The ancient Egyptians considered light to be the thought of the Gods. In the Middle Ages, Catholic movers and shakers orchestrated drama and awe by building massive cathedrals filled with sacred light. And true Renaissance men explored the camera obscura -- often frightening observers with its astonishing ability to project reality as an inverted pinhole image.

Even a forward-thinking scientist like Einstein called light “the shadow of God.” 

The pairing of light and spirit has always been central to our collective quest for explanation and man has undertaken great challenges -- intimate and cosmic -- to capture and celebrate light. In the hands of a great artist, the power of light is truly awesome.
